Learn more about specialized techniques for decorating wet-felted objects. This class is for any felt maker who has already made a 3-dimensional object such as a bowl or tote using a resist (pattern). In this year’s class you will make a simple bowl or tote and embellish it with fabric, lace, stones, beads, etc. or by using techniques such as “cracked mud”, ruffles, or carving.
Class will be 6 hours long, including a 30-minute lunch break. Bring 2 or 3 older bath towels, a pair of sharp scissors, and a sack lunch with drink. Wool fiber, decorative yarns and fibers and other supplies and equipment will be provided. You are welcome to bring your own supplies, including pretty lace, loosely woven fabric, flat stones, or larger beads, etc. as well as your favorite tools and a “show and tell” project if you like. You will need to be able to stand for an hour or more at a time and work with your hands in an activity similar to kneading bread dough or doing body massage. Wear a top with sleeves you can roll up and sturdy, comfortable shoes. Your clothes may get a bit damp, so bring a water-resistant apron if you like.
